Little did I know the day my dad packed me in the car with my sketchbook to meet a local painting teacher that I had just stepped onto my path in the arts. Since that day, whether as a graphic designer, decorative painter or teacher, I’ve had a paint brush in my hand.
I am Michelle Bergman of Michelle’s Design Works, and owner of Prismatic Paint And Plaster in Independence, Kentucky. I’m a lover of all things creative and one of my favorite things to do is help others find ways to express their creativity too. With 20+ years as a professional in the field, I have used the Faux Effects product line exclusively as a contractor and decorative artist.
Whenever I’m asked how I got started in the decorative painting field, the answer includes (like many of you) a story of experimenting with finishes in my own home, looking to find a hands-on career in the arts that better worked with a family of four children and a hardworking husband, and a desire to help others make their home beautiful and comfortable. More than 20 years into it, I’ve painted everything from walls, cabinets and furniture, to murals and designs on canvas and glass.
Behind the scenes, I’ve devoted a substantial amount of time developing new finishes, and studying with accomplished artisans from all over the country to keep up with the latest trends and Faux Effects products. I look forward to meeting you and being your resource for products, training and advice.
